W for Water (Featuring Flash Fiction)

This post is brought to you by the letter W.

It's flash fiction time! This little offering is 97 words. The theme is "Water."

Everyone walks around briskly, hunched under umbrellas -- or dashes from building to building to avoid the water falling fast from the sky.

But I stroll with my coat flung open, face turned up to the clouds.

It is raining, and I am happy. It makes up for those beautiful days I was heartsore and everyone offered, "At least it's a nice day," in consolation. As if that helped.

Water washes everything clean.

I wonder if it is a common human experience, this joy in the rain.

What else explains the desire to dance in the rain?

Now You!
What do you think explains the desire to enjoy the rain?
