I signed up for the Insecure Writers Support Group, which blogs about writing insecurities on the first Wednesday of every month.
Then I promptly forgot to write the first post. Because I'm SUPER ORGANIZED like that.
So I offer my deepest apologies and the following confessions:
1. I have been really crappy at blogging the past year. I feel surprisingly little guilt about this, although I do think I should really kick it up a notch now.
2. I have hardly written anything new since I graduated from my writing program in 2012. I mean, I write professionally all the time, but I've barely even tried to pitch anything anywhere. I also feel surprisingly little guilt about this, and also think I should probably make some kind of real attempt to do things like this. But have mostly not done so because....
3. I'm working on writing a book proposal for a nonfiction book. I think this is very exciting, but it is also very terrifying because in a book proposal you have to imagine your book is already written and you have to talk about how marketable it is, which seems like some serious putting-the-cart-before-the-horse evil magicks to me. AND like tempting the karma gods with an overly-inflated ego.
So what about you, fellow insecure writers? Are you blogging/pitching/proposing?
